A Maltese start-up, Shapelamp offers an online platform where users can create their very own, customised pendant light fitting.
A collaboration with Shapelamp which offers an online platform where users can create their very own, customised pendant light fittings. Made essentially of CNC-cut plywood components, the Shapelamp platform offers customisation in form, frequency of components and finishes among other options. This leads to an extensive array of available articles which are then fabricated to order.
Our brief was to show the extent of customisation available by rendering eight distinct forms of Shapelamp. We also had to show the relation between positive and negative space, the interactions between the lamp and its environment especially in the patterns of shadows that it cast.
The eight designs chosen feature a juxtaposition of angular and organic forms, innovative and conventional shapes. The bulb and lighting parameters were converted accurately, reflecting the photometric map of the bulbs that would eventually be sold with the actual pieces. It was imperative that the only light source in the 3D scene would be the bulb itself, to maintain focus on the product and also show realistically how such objects would behave in the real world.
These 3D renders were created for online marketing purposes. Finally, a hero image was created in an interior setting with daylight parameters. This was crucial to visualise how the various lamps would interact with each other in residential and commercial settings.
