In this collaboration with designers at MIKO we were asked to provide detailed technical drawings for the radical refurbishing of the entrance and reception area of the Ecabs headquarters in St Julians Malta, arguably the busiest cab despatching and logistics centre on the islands.

The brief was to achieve a welcoming professional experience for customers approaching and entering the building and to optimise flow in the building. Simplicity and a clutter-free environment were key to allowing employees and clients to move and interact smoothly and efficiently. Since time is of the essence in a transport and logistics business like this, an effective passage from the entrance to the welcoming desk was of the highest priority.

We wanted to create clean lines using warm yet durable materials. For the reception desk, we opted for a GFRC desk, a simple open and rounded functional surface that is at once stable and yet airy, with a hollow bottom section. We opted for a mix of concrete rendering on the walls with large areas of slatted panelling keeping every detail minimal and contemporary in style.

This does not only reflect the ethos and history of the company as a pioneer in high-quality transport services but it also reflects its vision for the present and future; clean, efficient and open to business.
